Demand for human resources specialists continues to grow in England & Wales, with vacancies up 18.7% quarter-on-quarter as employers ramp up their recruitment activity in response to restrictions easing. That’s according to new research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), the trade association for the recruitment sector.
The data, provided by business intelligence specialist Vacancysoft, revealed that HR vacancies rose by 18.7% between quarter one and quarter two and total hiring levels for 2021 have already exceeded 2020’s by 23.2%, with the current monthly average (2,452 roles) more than double last year’s (1,162).
APSCo’s data also revealed that recruitment specialists are the most sought-after professional, with the 6,081 jobs published so far this year constituting 69.8% more than 2020’s total. With widespread reports revealing that employers are ramping up their hiring levels in response to Covid restrictions all but ending and the latest ONS data showing that job vacancies are at a record high, it’s perhaps unsurprising that there has been such a rise in demand for specialists who can manage employers’ talent attraction strategies.
Ann Swain, CEO of APSCo said, “Our data clearly shows that employers in England & Wales are well on the road to recovery with demand for HR professionals continuing on an upward trajectory. And with businesses not only hiring again as the economy has opened up, but also contending with some of the worst talent shortages in years, it is easy to see why recruitment specialists are in such demand. As we progress throughout the next few months, we expect to see the market for HR professionals continue to perform exceptionally well.”
